Growing up in Florianópolis, an island in southern Brazil, Henrique was always connected to the ocean. He started his studies on 3D printing of bioabsorbable medical devices, but soon shifted his attention to the study of marine microplastics. Henrique obtained his master's in materials science and he's particularly interested in machine learning (ML) applications in research. As part of the ECO Sailboat group in Florianópolis, he's involved in outreach with schools, seaweed aquaculture and traditional peoples. Henrique was at ICTA-UAB for a research stay under the supervision of Patrizia Ziveri.
